Happy New Year!
We hope you had a great Christmas break. After some rest, we’re excited to get back to repairing and reducing waste.
We are happy to be partnering with 1st Iver Heath Scouts for the first time in February. I am hopeful that this relationship will continue and offer some opportunity for young people to get involved with the repair movement. The main difference for us will be that the refreshments will be run by their voluteer team to raise funds for the Scout Group.
We are looking for another venue in Iver Village which will complete our aim to have regular events across the Ivers bringing accessibility to the wider community. We hope to have monthly events rotating around our venues, with the occasional pop-up at events run by other organisations in the area.
Last years events were a huge success and I would like to thank everyone who attended. A special thank you goes to all of our wonderful volunteers taking time out of their busy schedules to come and repair, fix and share their skills with the community. Hip hip, hooray!
Here’s what’s coming up in the next couple of months:
Upcoming Events:
Saturday, 1st February Location: 1st Iver Heath Scout Hut We’re teaming up with the Scouts for the first time! We’ll handle the repairs, and the Scouts will run the cafe. This is a great chance for them to get involved in the community, and we’re looking forward to working together.
Bookings are open and we already have 6 confirmed bookings for this event. If you have an item to bring, please book a slot on our website
While we do reserve some space for walk-ins, we do always advise to book a slot as it can help us prepare for the event.
London Repair Week - March 3rd - 9th Running since 2020, London Repair Week is becoming a mainstay for sharing skills and promoting repair events and services within the London Boroughs. While it's a little outside our local area, it does mean there will be quite a few events to look out for not too far from home. One of which is with Hillingdon Friends of the Earth where Will started volunteering a few years ago. Their date is TBC but we will be advertising it on Facebook, so keep an eye out!
More information about London Repair Week can be found on the London Recycles website
Saturday, 15th March Location: St Leonard’s Church Hall We’re back at St Leonard’s for this event. Bring your items that need fixing—whether it’s small electricals, textiles, or something else—and our volunteers will help give them a new life.
Bookings for this event will become available on the 1st of February
If you are able to volunteer at either or both of these, please let us know.
Get Involved
We’re always looking for volunteers! If you're thinking of volunteering, please get in touch! If you're on the fence, don't be shy, pop down to one of our events to see what we get up to and to have a chat with some of our volunteers.
Everyone is welcome to drop by and say hello, but if you’re bringing something to be repaired, please book in advance at repaircafeiver.uk.
Let’s make 2025 a year of community, collaboration, and making a difference. Thank you for your support—see you soon!
